American Pastoral, a Landscape Show will run from October 14 – November 11, 2012 at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan, CT. Two black and white photographs by David Harlan were selected for the exhibition by Arianne Kolb, former curator at the J. Paul Getty Museum. “The Carriage Barn continues American art’s rich tradition in the genre of landscape, one that historically has included early American folk art paintings, grand expansive works introducing the public to the fantastic wild western frontier, the Boston impressionist school influenced by France, the WPA murals that introduced US citizens to rural and increasingly industrialized America, and late 20th and 21st century works depicting the United States and its vanishing wild places.” To view more of David’s work, visit his portfolio here.
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, October 14th from 3 – 5 PM. Many of the works in American Pastoral, a Landscape Show are for sale. The Carriage Barn is located in Waveny Park, 681 South Avenue (Route 124), New Canaan, CT.
Four photographs by David Harlan will be exhibited as part of Design Philadelphia, an annual festival highlighting the historical and contemporary importance of the city’s vibrant design community. “In partnership with The University of the Arts, DesignPhiladelphia brings together individuals and organizations from across the design spectrum, building valuable community relationships. For the past seven years, DesignPhiladelphia has produced a nationally recognized, open participation Festival. Programming is a dynamic mix of open studios, exhibitions, lectures, runway shows, tours, workshops, and the like, that take place in boutiques, galleries, museums, universities, warehouses, and city streets.”
An opening for the show will take place at Minima on Friday, October 12th from 6-10 PM. Minima is located at 118 N. 3rd St. Philadelphia, PA 19106. To view more of David’s photography visit his portfolio here.
